NCRC Annual Mediation Celebration

February 12 – 13, 2009

Join Us for Nashville Conflict Resolution Center’s 2009 Annual Mediation Celebrationa two-day event celebrating volunteer and pro bono mediation in Nashville and Middle Tennessee.  This year's Annual Mediation Celebration is focused on international conflict resolution, a growing interdisciplinary field designed to meet the challenges of 21st century conflict head-on.  The Annual Mediation Celebration includes collaborative activities with Vanderbilt Law School and the Institute for Conflict Management at Lipscomb University.  The program is designed for mediators, students and faculty from a variety of disciplines, lawyers, community organizers/activists, government employees and other professionals interested in conflict resolution.  Our goal is to raise awareness about NCRC's mission and services, and further engage Nashville in the work of volunteer / pro bono community mediation.  Please join us for all the fun!

1) War in the World Today: Beyond Winning or Losing?

An NCRC Fundraising Event - Download the invitation

All wars are now local wars. Globalization and changing political and security alliances mean that even the smallest of conflicts elsewhere in the world can affect our well being, and our security. Increasingly we, and even the military,  are acknowledging that the 'hard power' of military strength, while useful in the past, has considerable limitations for conducting today's and tomorrow's wars.  How can we prepare ourselves for the security challenges that face us in the years ahead, as our world grows increasingly connected, with all the vulnerability, challenges, and strengths that such connection brings?
